My Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire was great. The lack of schooling made me a little upset though, seeing as there was much more in the book. Also, there was a total lack of Quiditch World Cup in the movie. It takes up like 4 chapters of the book and the movie covered the whole thing in about 90 seconds. They also left out the ancestry of Fluer Delacour, and the fact that Dobby gave Harry the Gilly Weed, not Neville. The graphics were great, and the dragon scenes were absoloutly outstanding. Oh, and for all you Malfoy fans, he has a total of about 5 lines in the entire movie. Victor Krum is a hottie! Voldemort is finally seen in full human form, though he looks more reptilian than human, and Ralph Fiennes did an outstanding portrayal of him.
All in all the movie turned out quite well in my opinion. They seemed to have left alot more out than usual and stuck more to the tournament than anything else. The whole graveyard scene was a total of five minutes, I don't believe they explained the situation well enough for the nubes(who haven't read the books) to understand it. What they did put in the movie however, turned out fantstic. The introductory 10 minutes to the movie and tournament was well shot and explained. Also the casting for this movie was absolotly outstanding. The Yule Ball was shot very well, and stuck almost exactly to the book. The scene of the second challenge, which took place in the black lake, was very realistic looking. Per usual the main cast was outstanding, and the supporting roles such as Hagrid and Malfoy were played down an awful lot in this film. This was actually kind of nice though, because this film was much more tightly wound, not as many loosy-goosy and unimportant story lines to clutter it up.
The story, though very dark and ominous in many ways, had a lightness about it that only a director such as Mike Newell could consive. This film also made you feel quite colser to the main character's as if you were there with them. The wrap up on the film, though short, was pretty accurate, from beginning to end this movie was well constructed and about 80% true to the book. By the way, the sound track is totally kick-ass. I would say this movie gets 4 stars out of 5.
I would also like to add that if you are planning to see the movie this weekend that you get there at least an hour in advance. There is a line to be seated, and trust me, they sold out every seat, so if you are going with more than 2 other people, don't plan on sitting together, because the theatre will be packed. I reccomend this film to anyone who has read the book or not.
Now please dismiss everything I have said and go judge it for yourself, for my opinion is just that. MINE!!! Your's may and probably will be very different!
